How to make Banh Chung? 🎊🧨

Ingredients:
1, Glutinous rice: 5 kg
2, Pork: 2 kg
3, Mung beans: 1 kg
4, Salt, pepper: 500g
5, Dong leaves: 50 leaves
6, Bamboo strings: 100 fibres

Preparation:
Step 1: Soak the glutinous rice and mung beans for at least 4 hours.

Step 2: Pour 2 tsp salt into the rice, 1 tsp salt into the beans, then mix each well.

Step 3: Cut the pork into large pieces, marinate with pepper and salt.

Making Banh Chung:
Step 4: Place Dong leaves on a tray. Don’t forget to put 2 lower leaves face down, 2 higher leaves face up so that Banh Chung could have a green colour.

Step 5: First, put 1 bowl of rice in the middle of the Dong leaves, then add a half bowl of mung beans and put square-shaped pork on the mung beans.

Step 6: Next, put a half bowl of mung beans onto the pieces of pork. Make sure that the last rice layer covers all the ingredients.

Step 7: Wrap the ingredients into a square shape using Dong leaves, tie them with bamboo strings. Remember don’t tie them too tightly because when boiling, the rice could rise.

Step 8: Finally, arrange Banh Chung into the pot, fill with water and heat it until it boils, then reduce the heat. Don’t forget to check the water level to make sure that Banh Chung is submerged.

Step 9: After 12 hours, take Banh Chung out and let it drain.

Enjoyment:
Banh Chung is often used on Tet holidays.
